FILON internal rooflights / laylights

Internal rooflights, commonly known as laylights, are often required when working with discontinued roofing systems within older industrial buildings, in order to create seamless light transmission and insulation while not compromising existing traditional construction.

Description

Filon Filites are factory-assembled double-skin translucent internal rooflights manufactured from Filon GRP sheets. Designed for internal linings and used with suspended ceilings and purlin linings, our double-skin GRP box rooflights work seamlessly with external rooflights, allowing natural light to pass through whilst maintaining balanced insulation levels.

Benefits:

From atmosphere to environmental sustainability, there are many benefits to FILON industrial rooflights:

  • Excellent thermal insulation – FILON Filites achieve a U-value of 3.0W/m²K to provide excellent supplementary insulation to external rooflights.
  • High resistance to temperature change – FILON internal rooflights have been designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and are unaffected by temperature changes from -20ºC to 100ºC. They will not become brittle at low temperatures and will not soften, discolour or warp at high temperatures.
  • Excellent light transmission and diffusion – Standard double-skin FILON Filites units provide 81% light transmission with great light diffusion to minimise glare and hotspots.

Fire-rated grades available – Filon Filites are manufactured with Filon translucent GRP sheets that are tested to BS 476 Parts 3, 6 & 7. The normal fire ratings of the sheets used are:

  • Filon Grade 300 outer: AB to BS 476 Part 3
  • Filon Grade 104 inner: Class 1 to BS 476 Part 7
  • Other combinations are available and Filon Grade 101(rated Class 0 to BS 476 Part 6) is also available if required.

Sizes – Filon Filites are available in standard 900mm, 1000mm and 1200mm widths and depths of 30mm, 35mm and 40mm
